Blog entries

Stephanie is a highly regarded legal director within our private client team. Assisting and advising clients across Leeds and Yorkshire on a diverse range of legal issues from wills and incapacity to inheritance tax planning and wealth management.

In March 2013, Stephanie was awarded the Leeds Law Society President’s Award - the award celebrates any solicitor who has been qualified for less than three years and has made an outstanding contribution to Leeds’ legal services. Stephanie was presented with the award by Philip Jordan, president of Leeds Law Society, who praised her for having a ‘remarkable attitude to people who are infirm or ill’ and a ‘massive pride in the profession’.

In May 2019, Stephanie became one of a handful of lawyers in Leeds to be a Fully Accredited Member of the Solicitors for the Elderly network. Members of this network are described as “professionals who have a wealth of experience and training which helps put people at their ease when dealing with complex, life changing issues."

“Often having to deal with difficult and sensitive personal matters, I pride myself on being able to communicate sensitively and openly with people. Whether it be the elderly, the recently bereaved or local business men and women, I strive to ensure that my clients feel comfortable with me, and can discuss their affairs freely and honestly in ‘plain English’.

“I have the advantage of being able to carry out a variety of work and am experienced in all areas, including wills and powers of attorney, complex tax planning and estate administration. I also work closely with our contentious probate colleagues when trusts and estates become litigious. I undertake home/site visits if required and make regular applications to the Court of Protection for Deputyship appointments to enable ourselves or family members to administer the financial affairs of individuals who sadly no longer have the capacity to do so.

“I am a member of the Solicitors for the Elderly network and assist in the administration of the affairs of those clients for whom we act as attorney and deputy. I have presented various talks to the local community (including charities, care homes and local authorities) on subjects such as elderly client legal affairs, talks to carers, pre-retirement planning and mental capacity.

“Together with my colleagues at Clarion I support many local elderly people’s charities, carer’s charities and hospices. In 2014, after completing the necessary exams for the diploma, I became a fully qualified member of STEP (Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners).”
