Helen Spalding is an Associate in the Costs and Litigation Funding Team. Prior to commencing her training contract, she already had over 10 years’ experience as a Costs Draftsman.
As a Trainee Solicitor, she handled a large caseload of pre-litigation industrial disease cases before moving on to represent public sector clients on EL/PL litigation through to trial. Her litigation training gives her a clear understanding of the work that goes into a matter, which is incredibly valuable for accurate costs budgeting and bill drafting.
Helen is skilled in drafting bills, points of dispute, replies, costs budgets, and budget discussion reports. She also has a wealth of advocacy experience having attended CCMCs, oral reviews following provisional assessment, and detailed assessment hearings up and down the country.
Helen is a highly proficient negotiator who listens to her client’s needs and is commercially minded in her advice. She is experienced in acting for both paying and receiving parties on a wide range of matters including high value complex claims and group litigation. She has also planned and delivered various training sessions on costs issues.
