Morley Glass makes £1m move into new enlarged production facility in Leeds

Integral blind fabricator Morley Glass & Glazing has moved into a new 40,000sq ft factory and office space in Leeds in a deal supported by legal firm Clarion which sees the company invest over £1m, tripling its manufacturing footprint as well as creating eight new jobs.

Located at Leeds 27 Industrial Estate just off the M62, the new facility is the largest factory in the world manufacturing integral blinds into insulating glass units.  Morley Glass has moved from Millshaw Park Industrial Estate, Leeds, and signed a 15 year lease on the new premises.

Established in 1998 and now employing 58 staff, the company recently announced 30% year-on-year growth as demand continues to increase for its Uni-Blind sealed units which feature venetian and pleated blinds permanently sealed within a double glazed unit.  Morley Glass & Glazing has become Europe’s largest ScreenLine integral blind fabricator.

“Having been based in Leeds for the last 18 years, we are committed to the city and it’s fantastic that, working with Clarion, we’ve been able to secure larger premises here to accommodate our continued growth,” commented Ian Short, managing director of Morley Glass.

“Our new factory will allow us to work more efficiently, invest in new machinery, improve our showroom, take on more staff and install a new customer training facility. We’re also planning to introduce exclusive new ScreenLine products and continue to attract more trade window and door fabricators and installers.”

Mr Short continues: “The efficiency and enthusiasm of Clarion’s experts made the process of securing our new premises effortless.  As property specialists, the team were completely on the ball, they were attentive, swift to act and determined to find solutions to any problems that came up.  The firm was recommended to us and we found working with them was a breath of fresh air – going forward, we will be using them for all our legal matters.”

Lindsay Texel, partner in Clarion’s property team, said: “Morley Glass is continuing to go from strength to strength – it’s great to see a West Yorkshire business able to expand while remaining in the region.”

The Uni-Blinds range from Morley Glass & Glazing provides the widest choice of integral blinds in double and triple glazed units, with all manual, solar and motorised versions available in short lead-times and with comprehensive technical support.  The company also stocks the largest range of ScreenLine system spare parts in Europe with the enlarged factory enabling it to stock over £750,000 of ScreenLine components with most parts supplied within 24 hours.
