Leeds lawyer ‘struts his stuff’ in front of Judge

Roger Hutton, partner at Leeds legal firm Clarion, found himself on the wrong side of the law on Friday (24 September) when his criminal ‘dad dancing’ led to a spell behind bars.

Roger was one of seven ‘criminals’ who took part in this year’s Jail and Bail event in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice.  He was ‘arrested’ by police officers at the firm’s Oxford Place offices and escorted to the prison cells at Leeds Town Hall where he was held pending the £500 bail being raised.

The Leeds lawyer made a court appearance to hear the crime with which he was charged.  Colleagues in Clarion’s corporate recovery team described Roger’s dancing as ‘a cross between David Brent’s office moves, Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance Irish jigs and Mr Motivator’s enthusiastic aerobics poses’.  With the office Christmas party just a couple of months away, they felt that drastic action was required.

Despite the fact that Roger’s appearance in the dock included a demonstration of some of the offensive dad dancing moves, the judge was forced to agree to an early release as Roger succeeded in raising £1,250 for the Moortown hospice.

The event is on track to meet its overall target of raising £10,000 for St Gemma’s Hospice.
