We are continuing to expand our intellectual property (IP) practice with the appointment of Sarah Molloy as an associate.
Sarah has three years’ experience in a variety of contentious and non-contentious IP matters. Before joining Clarion, Sarah qualified as a trainee in 2008 and then worked as an IP specialist in the intellectual property and commercial team at Lupton Fawcett Lee & Priestley. During her time there, Sarah worked across a range of intellectual property issues in the UK and overseas, including trade marks, passing off, designs and patents, and gaining considerable experience of IP litigation before the specialist IP courts in London.
In her new role, Sarah will work within the five-strong Clarion team on all IP matters relating to patents, designs, trade marks and copyright, including litigation and dispute resolution, as well as advising on strategy and registered IP protection, IP agreements and exploitation.
Sarah’s appointment comes shortly after the promotion to partner in the IP team at Clarion of leading IP lawyer Esther Kirwan.
Leigh Martin, lead partner of Clarion’s IP practice adds: “Over the last four years, the IP practice at Clarion has established itself as one of the foremost teams in the region. With our client base of entrepreneurs, SMEs, multinationals and overseas clients continuing to grow, we need to expand our team with quality people to ensure that our clients continue to benefit from the thorough technical knowledge and strategic advice we are able to provide regarding both their national and international IP needs, and to ensure that they continue to receive the excellent levels of service they are used to.
“I am very pleased to have been able to welcome Sarah to the team with the dynamism, enthusiasm and experience she brings. Following Esther Kirwan’s appointment to partner in the team, we are in a unique position in the region to continue to build our business in this specialist and important area of law. ”
Sarah comments, “I am delighted to be joining one of the North of England’s most respected intellectual property teams, headed by two of the UK’s leading IP lawyers. I am looking forward to learning from them and continuing to grow our practice at Clarion, working with a variety of clients on a diverse range of intellectual property issues in both the UK and overseas.
“It’s also great to be joining such a dynamic, forward thinking firm as it continues to grow across all practice areas.”
Clarion’s IP practice has a diverse client base from multinationals to SMEs across a range of industries. It encompasses all aspects of intellectual property law, including the identification, protection and commercial exploitation of intellectual property, as well as litigation and the resolution of intellectual property disputes. The department’s areas of expertise cover patents, designs, trade marks, passing off, copyright and the protection of confidential information.
