Yorkshire law firm Clarion has signed up as the key sponsor of the North’s premier grass court event, the annual JM Glendinning Group International Tennis Tournament and Ilkley Open 2012 which is hosted by the Ilkley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club.
Known as ‘the Wimbledon of the North’, more than 500 competitors will take part, showcasing top men’s talent from more than 30 countries with competitors playing for world ranking points and for the coveted title. Taking place from 8 July to 14 August, entry to watch the week-long tournament is free and the event is expected to attract over 1,000 spectators.
Caroline Buncall, Ilkley tournament director, said, “It is always a fantastic tournament and it’s great to have the support of one of the region’s leading law firms. We hope they will enjoy the world-class standard of tennis which has become synonymous with the event.”

A number of other activities are being held alongside the tournament, for example, on 14 August from 9-11am, under 11s can take part in a ‘Search for a Star’ event to discover local untapped tennis talent.
