Clarion is focusing on the private care home sector and has been appointed as legal adviser to a consortium of specialists serving the sector in the North.

Known as Associated Care Facilities (ACF), the network is a multi-skilled group comprising experienced care home owner-managers as well as professionals such as investment consultants, IT experts and land acquisition specialists.

The consortium aims to help new investors and care home operators tap into the £10bn private care home sector and is already in talks over a number of developments.  It will work with existing small to medium sized operators as well as those new to the market.

“With estimates that a further 55,000 care home beds will be needed over coming years to cope with our aging population, it is likely that private sector developers will be called on to fill the gap in services,” explains Martin Grange, partner in Clarion’s property team.  “Already, many high street lenders see care homes as a safer investment and are, therefore, willing to provide lending.

“We aim to help investors to take advantage of this growing market by providing the specialist skills they need, drawing on our first hand experience and in depth knowledge of working with care home operators.  As legal adviser to ACF, we will initially be focussing on the North East, but plan to extend our services to other regions.”

The firm offers ten specialist service areas consisting of corporate, commercial and IP; corporate recovery; private client; employment; property; dispute resolution; family, debt recovery; costs and litigation funding; and Clarion Advocates (formerly business crime and regulatory).
