Leeds law firm Clarion has further expanded its costs and litigation funding team with the appointments of Sue Fox, Simon Sharpe and Danielle Walker.
Sue, a specialist in cost budgeting with over 15 years’ experience, joins from DWF where she was a senior costs adviser and previously spent eight years as a law costs draftsman with Addleshaw Goddard. She takes on the role of head of costs budgeting, leading a new sub-division within Clarion’s costs team alongside its Court of Protection costs and civil costs operations.
The second new member of the team is law graduate Danielle Walker who also joins as a law costs draftsman.
These latest hires follow the promotion of head of Clarion’s costs and litigation funding team, Andrew McAulay, to partner in the summer. Andrew has built up the costs and litigation funding practice over his 13 years with the firm, leading its now seven-strong team on a portfolio of nationwide clients. Initially providing this specialist service internally at Clarion, the team now works with over 60 law firms across the UK.
Andrew comments: “Since the Jackson Reforms came into effect in April 2013, lawyers have been faced with the additional and onerous task of preparing cost budgets and, as a result, many are turning to costs lawyers and outsourcing this specialist work.
“We have established a strong reputation in this niche sector and consequently our workload is continuing to grow. These latest appointments will not only enable us to maintain high levels of client service, but also, with Sue’s arrival, we will be able us to focus on developing a cost budgeting specialism.”
The costs and litigation funding team deals with all areas of legal costs, acting for receiving and paying parties. It specialises in high value claims for Costs, costs budgeting, Court of Protection costs and solicitor/own client costs disputes.
