Nine members of Clarion have accepted a challenge to take on a nine-strong team from RSM Tenon’s Leeds office to complete a 170 mile, three day coast to coast cycle ride.  The ride is in aid of The Being Bel Trust, a charity set up to raise funds for ten year old Bel Young from Harrogate who was severely paralysed in a fall from a climbing frame last summer. Bel is the daughter of Clarion partner Simon Young.

Setting off on 14 September, the teams will undertake the newest coast to coast cycle route, the Way of the Roses, which runs between Morecambe on Lancashire’s Irish Sea coast and Bridlington on Yorkshire’s North Sea coast.

The teams are asking for the support of colleagues, clients and friends in their bid to raise funds for Bel.  After ten months in hospital, she is now at home in Harrogate and needs costly specialist equipment as well as help with ongoing therapy and care costs.

Partner and leader of the Clarion team Richard Moran said: “As a firm, we never like to turn down a challenge so when the guys from RSM Tenon suggested this ride, we couldn’t refuse, particularly as it is for a cause so close to our hearts.

“This gruelling journey will take in some of our most beautiful landscape including the Yorkshire Dales, Nidderdale and the Vale of York, although it will be a tough ordeal for those of us who aren’t quite as fit as we should be.  It’s a great incentive to start training and I will be doing my best not to slow down the Clarion team.  So, we urge the Leeds business community to support us – it may well be the only time you see me on a bike!”

RSM Tenon team leader Richard Bright said: “‘This is a cause close to any parent’s heart, I am glad that we can help in some small way to make life just a little easier for this courageous little lady and her parents.”

As well as Richard, the Clarion team includes Simon Young, Christian Hunt, Mark Burns, Roger Hutton, Ryan Millmore, Leigh Martin, John Mackle and Alice Pratt.  The team from RSM Tenon comprises Richard Bright, Keith Marshall, Liam Cotter, Steve Williams, Richard Leach, Ian Gibson, Glyn Thomas, Alan Dunwell and Sarah Nichols.
