Housing UK – Can collaboration alleviate the housing sector crisis?

To address how collaboration across public and private sector organisations such as government, housing associations, lending providers and housebuilders can address the housing crisis, we are delighted to have a number of the leading national voices on the subject:

Deputy Chief Executive Tom Walker joined Homes England in October 2017. Tom leads the agency’s strategy and engagement functions both nationally and regionally. This includes leading on our approach to strategic housing growth, working closely with local authorities and combined authorities and aligning the agency’s powers and resources with those of partners. As an urban geographer by background, Tom has had a long career in Whitehall centred on housing, local government, regeneration and devolution.

Geraldine Howley is the Group Chief Executive of one of the largest social housing providers in Yorkshire. A key focus of the group’s work goes beyond providing homes to ‘Improving lives Incommunities’. Geraldine is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing and interim Chair of the CIH. In June 2017, Geraldine was awarded an OBE in recognition of her services to housing, young people and the local community. Geraldine is passionate about young people and is Chair of The Centre for Partnership’s GEM Programme (Graduate Employment Mentoring Programme).

Andrew is the CEO, major shareholder, and represents the fourth generation of the Weaver family in the business. He has a strong background in the Arts having been an Art Scholar at Worksop College and then a Bachelor of Arts at Pembroke College, Cambridge. He joined the business in 1996 and, after gaining experience across all disciplines, made his mark in product design and sales and marketing. Andrew was instrumental in initiating the rebrand to Strata from the family name in 2001 and has been the driving force in making Strata design led and service oriented. He became Managing Director in 2007 and attained an Exec MBA at Harvard Business School in 2008. He is passionate about making Strata the stand out lifestyle brand in the new build sector.

Richard has over 28 years’ experience in planning consultancy and has in depth knowledge and expertise in the assessment of site development potential, the preparation of development briefs and submission and negotiation of all forms of planning related applications and appeals. Richard began his career at a law firm as part of the planning law team before joining specialist planning consultants Chapman Warren in 1995. Following the acquisition of Chapman Warren by the RPS Group, Richard joined surveying practice Weatherall Green and Smith (now Sanderson Weatherall) in 2000 to head up the planning team before forming ID Planning in 2005 with Jonathan Dunbavin. The company has been, and continues to be, involved in some of the highest profile residential schemes across the Yorkshire region, acting for a number of the most prominent
national residential development companies. The practice has offices in Leeds and Sheffield.
