We have specific expertise of working within the food and drink industry that has been gained through working with our clients in the sector and key industry bodies over many years.
Commercial disputes faced by companies in the food and drink sector invariably strike at the heart of any business and if not addressed correctly can at best be a significant distraction, and at worst can lead to permanent financial, reputational and brand damage.
Commercial disputes in the sector frequently relate to supply chain issues with suppliers or customers, outsourcing, brand licensing, supply contract breaches and terminations, GSCOP compliance, agents and distributors, logistics and warehousing, packaging, IT, plant and equipment, business interruption, product quality and recalls.
Our focus from the outset is to manage the risk of disputes, to avoid them arising in the first place, and if they do arise to minimise the risk of them escalating unnecessarily. We do this by quickly getting to the heart of the issues which really matter, both commercially and legally, and by finding practical and pragmatic solutions, coupled with control and direction.
When a dispute does escalate, our aim is to address the issues in such a way as to maximise the opportunities to achieve the best possible outcome at the optimal point in time, both quickly and in a cost effective way. Our in depth extensive experience in the sector, on issues arising both in the UK and overseas, means that we are able to achieve this by providing highly focussed and strategic advice.
Our expertise in food regulation also means that we are able to advise clients on regulatory issues which may arise in the context of a commercial dispute.
