Since August 2008, the Legal Services Commission has been re-launching the re-vamped LSC online. Following the problems faced when LSC online was previously re-launched in 2007 the LSC are now introducing providers to the online system in waves, with the final wave of providers joining in March. This will mean that after March 1 all work claims will need to be submitted electronically through LSC online. From that date the contingency email process will no longer be available.

Training has been offered for many providers already and many people seem to have found the workshops useful with 89% of attendees rating them as ‘useful' or ‘very useful' according to the LSC website. The LSC claim that the new system should make it easier to accurately report case outcomes, calculate fees and highlight exceptional cases.

It will be interesting to see how smooth and successful the change over is when it is fully completed and all providers are using the online system. Only time will tell.
