We are holding our Masterclass on 13th July specifically for Court of Protection practitioners in order to address the issues faced by professional Deputies on a day to day basis.
A panel of experts in the field will be on hand to share their knowledge and experience.

“How to be a Deputy in 2017”: Practical hints and tips for Deputies to bring you right up to date. Since the last Masterclass we have seen cases on IHT planning, guidance on the disclosure of P's will, the HM Personal Injury Trust case revisited, a warning shot for professional Trustees and discussion of whether a trust or Deputyship is the right option for someone with borderline capacity. Lynne will talk about all these issues and the impact on professional deputies.

OPG and the MCA - 10 years on - Ria’s will be an opportunity to update professional Deputies on the latest from the OPG, including their plans for this financial year and the future of Deputyships.
- Francesca Gardner, Barrister, Kings Chambers
Francesca will provide a case law update, which will address the key decisions for property and affairs Deputies/practitioners over the past twelve months.
- Master James, Senior Courts Costs Office
Master James will speak about Court of Protection Costs and the role of the SCCO.
- Paul Hudson, Lewis Cohen and Katie Wilson, Tilney
Paul will speak about budgeting for Protected Parties whilst Lewis will share his views on ODI investing for Protected Parties. Katie will discuss the technical updates including discretionary clauses, state benefits, discount rate, etc.
- Andrew McAulay, Partner and Costs Lawyer at Clarion Solicitors
Andrew will discuss the latest changes in relation to Court of Protection Costs, including fixed fees,proportionality and the practicalities of the OPG105 form.
