Contributions in the Community
We recognise that as a successful business we can play a valuable role in supporting the local community in which we work.
Here are some of the initiatives in which we have been involved:
Run For All Leeds 10k
For the fourth year running we are delighted to once again be sponsors of the Clarion Corporate Challenge, part of the main Leeds 10k, the biggest charity run in the country. In conjunction with the organisers of Jane Tomlinson’s Leeds 10K, we call on businesses throughout the region to support one of Yorkshire’s leading charity events by entering their own corporate team. Businesses taking part are able to use the race to raise funds for their own chosen charity or community cause.
“The Leeds 10K is always a fantastic event for the city, both in terms of the community spirit it fosters with more than 11,000 runners and many more spectators taking part, as well as the vast amount it raises for charity - an amazing £300,000 last year,” comments Roger Hutton, partner at Clarion.
“Yorkshire still has a robust business community and this is a great opportunity to bring people together in a common cause. Putting forward a corporate team is great for team building and networking, as well as raising much-needed funds either for The Jane Tomlinson Appeal or for any other charity or good cause close to your heart.”
Harehills Clinic
In conjunction with LawWorks, Clarion provides free legal advice to local residents at the Harehills and Chapeltown Law Centre.
The advice sessions at the Law Centre run on a fortnightly basis and are tremendously successful. Fee earners from trainee up to partner level volunteer to give up their free time to support the Law Centre. Clarion believes that with its employees’ hard work and determination, it can continue to make significant gains in improving access to legal services in the area.
Clarion began advising at the Law Centre in August 2008 and have identified a number of areas where there was a particular need and demand for services which Clarion could provide and which the Law Centre did not have any other resource to provide, particularly employment and contractual and debt recovery advice.
St Gemma’s Hospice
St Gemma’s Hospice, Leeds is the largest Hospice in West Yorkshire, caring each year for over 1,000 people and their families from the Leeds area and beyond. Sara Rogers, our private client partner, is a trustee for St Gemma’s and we are delighted to work with them on a various projects, in particular as lead sponsors of their annual “Questions of Sport Celebrity Quiz & Dinner”. This is an excellent evening that regularly raises over £30,000 for the hospice supporting the care and services provided to local people with terminal illnesses.
